Parents play a crucial role at Old Peachtree. We are a
community of parents and educators (many of whom are
parents here too). Together our ideas and input literally
help to shape the school. Few schools are so open and
responsive to suggestions and concerns.
Old Peachtree strongly encourages families to feel at home to participate in the broader life of the school through social and educational activities offered by the school. Although most parents fulfill their required volunteer commitment of four hours per month, there are still many who volunteer considerably more amount of time as volunteers.
There are some things even money can’t buy, and one of the most valuable contributions that families make to Old Peachtree is the gift of time and expertise. Parents, grandparents, and friends of the school are often found helping out in the office, assisting in classrooms, driving for field trips or heading a School committee.
Parents and grandparents who give of their time and talent share with their family’s special memories of experiences and friendships that will endure. What’s more is your children may not understand what writing a tuition check means (because of it’s abstract nature), but they do understand when they can see you helping out on campus, that you are truly “giving” something to the school. Old Peachtree Montessori depends one everyone’s combined talents.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
• Old Peachtree Farm Garden
We are very excited about our new garden, made possible by the help and support of the parent volunteers and donors.
We already have a wonderful start to creating our new garden with items like peppers, raspberry shoots, figs, eggplant, tomato’s, and cabbage. Any additional donations are greatly appreciated.
Some suggestions are:
• Strawberries
• Snap Peas
• Lemon Balm
• Radishes
• Cucumbers
We have many crops already planted, including tomatoes, peppers, okra, cabbage, eggplant and strawberries. We will be planting raspberries and blackberries soon.
• Co-op/Planting Days
Co-op/Planting days are planned throughout the school year. Please bring a shovel or rake, and 2 perrenials.
